Business Development Manager - Retailers & Food Manufacturers

Your mission:

  • You build strong and long-term relationships with companies (small, medium and large) active in the food production sector and in retail. Your objective is to make those clients include fairly produced bananas, chocolate, coffee, cotton etc. in their assortment.
  • You work closely with other business development managers, as well as with your colleagues in the communication, supply chain, licensing and advocacy teams. Together, you develop tailor-made solutions to support your commercial partners and help them achieve outstanding results.
  • You act as a consultant towards your partners to help them make their supply chain fairer and more sustainable, wherever possible.
  • You keep track of your targets and ensure your actions are in line with the pre-defined annual plan.
  • You report to our Head of Business Development.

Your profile:

  • You hold a Bachelor or Master Degree. You have at least a first professional experience in a sales and/or category management role, preferably in the food sector. You are able to detect opportunities within an existing portfolio and support your recommendations with a sound argumentation.
  • You are client-centric, and enjoy a mix of hunting and farming
  • You are a strong communicator, both verbally and in writing
  • You can persuade different stakeholders by winning their hearts, minds and trust
  • You can demonstrate patience and perseverance
  • You enjoy working in a team, but are also able to take initiatives and lead your own projects
  • You feel strongly about contributing to a fairer market situation and fully endorse the values of Fairtrade Belgium.
  • You are trilingual NL/FR/EN
